Busi Jacobsohn Wine Estate is a family–owned vineyard located in the High Weald region of East Sussex, England. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Eridge Green, the estate has quickly established a reputation for producing high–quality English sparkling wines that reflect both the character of the local terroir and the passion of its founders. The vineyard combines Scandinavian precision, Mediterranean wine culture, and a commitment to sustainable viticulture, creating a distinctive identity within the rapidly growing English wine industry. Today, Busi Jacobsohn Wine Estate is recognised as one of the promising boutique producers within the English wine sector. Although relatively young, the vineyard has earned praise for its award–winning wines, careful attention to quality, and dedication to expressing the unique characteristics of the Sussex Weald. Through their passion, expertise, and commitment to craftsmanship, Douglas and Susanna Jacobsohn have transformed a personal dream into a respected English wine brand that continues to gain recognition both in the United Kingdom and internationally.

The story of Busi Jacobsohn began in 2014 when Douglas Jacobsohn and SusannaBusi Jacobsohn purchased a farm in East Sussex. Originally from Sweden, the couple had long dreamed of operating a vineyard and initially considered retiring to Italy or southern France. However, after discovering the remarkable progress being made in English sparkling wine, they decided to establish their vineyard in Sussex instead. Inspired by the region’s climate and growing reputation for premium sparkling wines, they planted approximately 20,000 vines in 2015 across five hectares of land.

Busi Jacobsohn specialises in traditional–method sparkling wines produced exclusively from estate–grown grapes. The vineyard is planted with the three classic Champagne varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. These grape varieties thrive in the estate’s unique clay–loam and greensand soils, which differ from the chalk soils commonly associated with many English vineyards. The result is a collection of wines known for their elegance, balance, and distinctive fruit character. One of the estate’s flagship wines is the Cuvée Extra Brut. Produced from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, this sparkling wine showcases crisp acidity, refined citrus notes, and delicate complexity developed through extended aging. The wine reflects the estate’s philosophy of creating vintage–only sparkling wines with minimal intervention and low dosage levels, allowing the natural characteristics of the fruit to shine through. Another highly regarded wine is the Rosé, a sophisticated sparkling wine that emphasises Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It offers subtle red berry aromas, fine mousse, and a fresh, elegant finish. The Rosé demonstrates the estate’s ability to create wines that combine freshness with depth and structure. The Blanc de Blancs is produced entirely from Chardonnay grapes and represents one of the estate’s most refined offerings. Known for its smooth texture, bright acidity, and elegant citrus character, it exemplifies the precision and purity that have become hallmarks of the Busi Jacobsohn style. In addition to sparkling wines, the estate also produces limited quantities of still wines. These include Barrel 1, a fresh and vibrant white wine with bright summer fruit notes, and Rosé de Meunier, a still rosé that highlights the expressive qualities of Pinot Meunier. These wines provide visitors with a broader understanding of the vineyard’s capabilities beyond traditional sparkling production. Still to come in autumn 2026 is still wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Sustainability plays an important role in the estate’s operations. The vineyard has adopted environmentally conscious practices, including the use of solar energy, biomass heating, and increasing reliance on mechanical weed management to reduce herbicide use. The family also places significant emphasis on biodiversity and maintaining the natural ecosystem surrounding the vineyard.
