Join the 1066 Country Walk at Winchelsea Court Hall Museum on the High Street and take time to enjoy the serene quirkiness of historic Winchelsea, once a thriving wine harbour and Cinque Port but landlocked since the coastline moved.  From there, follow the route alongside St Thomas the Martyr Church, admired for its spectacular stained glass windows, continue through the town’s ancient gate and head into the glorious countryside. At the stile by the narrow lane, turn right towards Wickham Manor and the vineyard beyond.

Charles Palmer Vineyards, a family-run estate with forty acres of south-facing vines, lies just a mile from the sea. Visitors can enjoy a warm welcome, guided tours, tastings and picnic hampers, whilst taking in the magnificent views across the beautiful Brede Valley.  The estate produces small batch sparkling and still white, rosé and red wines shaped by its coastal setting and distinctive terroir.
